Pastor Michael Johnson was born in Pittsburg, California, on September 12, 1953. After graduating from Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana, in 1983, he founded the Shasta Baptist Church in Redding, California. In 2002, Pastor Johnson was honored with the Doctor of Divinity degree from Providence Baptist College in Elgin, Illinois.
Pastor Johnson has served as a faculty member of Golden State Baptist College where he taught Baptist History, Homiletics, and Bible. He has recently authored a book on Baptist history titled The People Called Baptists. He has had the opportunity to preach in Costa Rica, Russia, Mexico, the Philippines, India and Africa.
Pastor Johnson and his wife Patti were married in December of 1975. They have four grown children and seven grandchildren.
